The Chalice represents feminine energies, the womb and intuition and is used to honour the goddess. The most famous chalice is the Holy Grail, thought by some to represent Mary Magdalene and the bloodline of Christ. The pentacle on the Chalice symbolises the active nature of feminine energy.
The Blade represents masculine forces, power and truth. Legendary swords include Excalibur and the Sword of Damocles. The crescent at the top of the hilt represents the masculine energy as passive on the internal planes.
The Ribbon spiralling around the Chalice and Blade symbolises the energy generated during the Great Rite, creating a vortex of rebirth.
Finally, the salutation 'Blessed Be', engraved on the ribbon, seals this sacred image.
