MAY GIFT GUIDE

Named after Maia, the Roman goddess of fertility and spring, May is the fifth month of the year in the Gregorian calendar and the third month of the ancient Roman calendar.

In the neopagan Wheel of the Year, May is the time of Beltane (or May Day) - a fire festival celebrating the fertility of the coming year and is celebrated with maypole dances. The young Goddess in her maidenhood, represented by the May Queen, dances around the God, represented by the May Pole - symbolising the Sacred Marriage of Goddess and God. This is a time for planning new projects, a time for new untried activities and a time to rejoice in the love that surrounds you. This is also one of the most auspicious times for Handfasting (the other being Lammas/Lughnasadh).
