Candles have been used for centuries for magick and rituals. We blow them out at birthdays and light them at holidays. They invoke the divine, create a sense of ceremony and are pretty to look at. Yet candles have a special ability to make wishes come true, because they help clarify your heart's desire and allow you to focus. Next time you want to make something happen in your life, let a candle light the way. Candles are used to help to increase a spell's power, or to influence a particular power. Remember that magick comes back to you three times fold. As a result you should only practice positive magick and not to dispel negative energies onto another. Magick affects everything in the world around you, therefore always take great precautions when performing magick.

There are four things to keep in mind when dealing with Candle Magick:

The candles you use for any type of magickal use should be virgin, that is unused. Under no circumstances use a candle which has already adorned a dinner table or been used as a bedroom candle or night-light. There is a very good reason for not using anything but virgin materials in magick. Vibrations picked up by second hand materials or equipment may disturb your workings and negate their effectiveness
Do not use matches ~ the sulphur is a banishment tool and will render the candle's magick effects lessened or useless. Use a lighting stick, an incense match or a lighter to light the wick
Do not blow the candle out ~ this is taken as an affront. Use a snuffer or wet your fingers and pinch it out, anything but blow it out
Use caution and think safety first when dealing with fire. Do not use sprays around the flames, be sure the candle is on a inflammable base, keep away from low hanging cloth or any cloth or flammable items and, most of all, keep children away! Fire destroys everything in its path and can wreak havoc and heartache if not properly used.

Create an altar or special place where you can burn your candle and leave it undisturbed afterwards. You can add flowers, incense or other symbolic items if you wish.
Time your candle magick to correspond to the cycles of the moon. To bring something into your life, do your rituals when the moon is waxing (between New and Full Moons). To rid yourself of something, do it when the moon is waning (between Full and New Moons). If you have knowledge of Rune Stones it is possible to carve their symbols into the candles to help intensify the magick.


ALL PURPOSE CANDLE SPELL
This is a quick uncomplicated ritual, designed to be used for all positive purposes.

You will need one candle of the appropriate colour, a candle holder and a lighter or incense match, never use ordinary matches!
When you are ready to begin, hold the candle between the palms of your hands, breathe deeply, and visualise your goal. Meditate briefly before lighting the candle to help still the mind and bring your desire into focus Feel all the power and energy seep into the candle.v Speak of the goal that you wish to accomplish.
Place the candle in the holder, holding the lighted incense match or light above the candle, bring the flame down towards the wick visualising and repeating your goal as you light the candle. State your intention out loud, in simple, clear terms. Imagine that you already have what it is you want in your life.
Sit in front of the candle and meditate for a few seconds with it. Continue to chant your desire as the candle burns. It is not necessary to chant the entire time. Watch the flame steadily, but don't stare intently. Focus on being receptive and open to what it is you want.
When you have completed your ritual, allow the candle to completely burn away. You do not need to stay with the candle after the ritual, but make sure that it is safe and red-hot wax will not cause damage or fire. Never re-use a candle which has been lit in any magickal ritual. It should only be used in that ritual and then be allowed to burn away, then dispose of the left-over wax afterwards. To help the candle magick you can also place a piece of the wax under your pillow and repeat the desire every night before you go to sleep. You do this every night for a week after the ritual.

Magenta - Combination of red and violet that oscillates on a high frequency. Energises rituals where immediate action and high levels of power or spiritual healing are required
Brown - Earthly, balanced colour. For rituals of material increase. Eliminates indecisiveness. Improves powers of concentration, study, telepathy. Increases financial success. Locates objects that have been lost
Indigo - Colour of inertia. Stops situations or people. Use in rituals that require a deep meditational state or in rituals that demand Saturn energy
Royal Blue - Promotes laughter and joviality, colour or loyalty. Use to attract Jupiter energy or whenever an influence needs to be increased
Light Blue - Spiritual colour. Helpful in devotional or inspirational meditations. Brings peace and tranquility to the home. Radiates Aquarius energy. Employ where a situation must be synthesised
Blue - Primary spiritual colour for rituals to obtain wisdom, harmony, inner light, or peace. Confers truth and guidance
